I worked for Abbvie both as a contractor and permanent staff. Abbvie is very friendly to the 50+ worker. In my department which was Pharmacovigilance, the mature, experienced worker is sought after and welcomed. There is flexible scheduling and work at home days. Management is respectful and entrusts/challenges mature workers with special projects. The company is also willing to make adjustments for the disabled worker of which I was one. I was allowed to attend meetings on campus via teleconference because it was so difficult for me to walk due to severe arthritis. I did not care for their new system of evaluating employee performance but this system applied to everyone not just the mature employee.

Recognizes the value of the mature worker. Work at home options and scheduling flexibility is present. Willing to adapt to physical limitations of the employee.

Testimonials:

After reading the comments by those who express their perspective of age related discriminating practices by more than a few employers, I felt very concerned for older workers that need/desire employment. I wonder if these employers understand that it is not just the revenue from young adults that keep them in business. I wonder how they would survive if the older generation would stop supporting their businesses. I also wonder if these employers understand the principle of sowing and reaping? I am grateful to your agency for providing the results of your survey and your commitment to provide older workers with reliable job leads.
