I am currently working at Sally Beauty and the manager of the store I'm working at is young and she DOES NOT know how to speak to older people. She is VERY disrespectful towards me, talking to me very shortly and impatiently, sending me home with the excuse that there is enough coverage at the store, when something is not EXACTLY PERFECT, it has to be PERFECT or she gets MAD, her attitude changes and she starts talking to me in a VERY CONDECENDING manner! I have a co-worker that is 22 years my senior and she is experiencing the same treatment. It's very hurtful especially since I NEVER miss work and I give EVERYTHING I've got in EVERYTHING that I do! There are 3 other stores in this area that DO have managers that have managers that are in their 50's but it's an unsafe work environment because 4 nights a week they only allow 1 person to close and most times only 1 person is working during most of the day.

Testimonials:

After reading the comments by those who express their perspective of age related discriminating practices by more than a few employers, I felt very concerned for older workers that need/desire employment. I wonder if these employers understand that it is not just the revenue from young adults that keep them in business. I wonder how they would survive if the older generation would stop supporting their businesses. I also wonder if these employers understand the principle of sowing and reaping? I am grateful to your agency for providing the results of your survey and your commitment to provide older workers with reliable job leads.
