I worked for them for 16 years. The difference in how I was treated was very pronounced the last couple of years, the closer I became to retirement age.

This could explain why I was never notified that my resume/application had been received, much less contacted by SRI for an interview. Most companies as tech savy as SRI is have an auto-reply system in place notifying applicants their resume/application has been received. When it came to answering the questions about "dates" of employment, I knew based on a friend who worked there that I was out of the running for a job I could have done in my sleep. I met every qualification SRI wanted in the successful candidate.

Within a matter of three years, the company has systematically reduced its workforce of older employees. The new CEO wanted to "get rid of the old people" when he assumed his post.

Testimonials:

After reading the comments by those who express their perspective of age related discriminating practices by more than a few employers, I felt very concerned for older workers that need/desire employment. I wonder if these employers understand that it is not just the revenue from young adults that keep them in business. I wonder how they would survive if the older generation would stop supporting their businesses. I also wonder if these employers understand the principle of sowing and reaping? I am grateful to your agency for providing the results of your survey and your commitment to provide older workers with reliable job leads.
